About Aryaman Deshmukh

Driven by curiosity and a passion for building things that matter, I explore how science and technology creates a real-world impact through my work and studies. This is elucidated by my work as a research intern at IISER Pune, and my environmental conservation organization – The Tree Map.

This journey of mine began in grade 5, by building a robot for Cozmo Clench at Techfest – IIT Bombay, and this continues today as I push boundaries in my academic and research pursuits.

Why Engineering?

Engineering, to me, is a way of finding solutions to problems that we face in the real world.

I’m drawn to problems that span multiple disciplines rather than being confined to a single domain.

My interests span biological systems, environmental challenges, and electrical and electronic systems.

I enjoy breaking complex systems down and studying how they work at a fundamental level.

I design solutions to improve lives, not just optimizing systems.

In any setting, I approach engineering with curiosity, rigor, and a focus on people

Athletics, Creativity & Balance

Athletics and creative pursuits have shaped my discipline, resilience, and balance. Juggling academics with sport and music strengthened my time management and perseverance.

Research Intern, IISER Pune

As a research intern in Dr. Mayurika Lahiri’s lab at IISER Pune, I work on understanding the role of Api5 (Apoptotic Inhibitor 5) in DNA damage repair and tumorigenesis, with a focus on cancer biology. Through hands-on lab work and data analysis, I have developed rigor, patience, and precision, strengthening my interest in research-driven science and engineering. Read More…

Team Lead

I led a team of four in a stock market competition and took a course on Fundamental Analysis from the NSE Academy, where I learned to evaluate economies and companies, interpret balance sheets, and analyze key financial ratios. The experience sharpened my analytical skills, deepened my understanding of the stock market, and taught me practical lessons in financial decision-making and personal money management.

leadership & community

Leadership

Elected Head Prefect for 2024–2025, I led the senior school (Grades 6–10), coordinated with teachers and the student council, and spearheaded new initiatives such as the Debate Club. Previously, I served as House Vice-Captain (2023–2024), motivating house members and supporting leadership activities.

As Head Prefect, I worked closely with the prefect body, teachers, and the student council to organize school events, streamline coordination, and implement new programs for student engagement. I also participated in a six-member team at a Student Leadership Conference in 9th grade, where I learned skills in introspective leadership, team dynamics, and Covey’s circles.
