About Aryaman Deshmukh
Driven by curiosity and a passion for building things that matter, I explore how science and technology creates a real-world impact through my work and studies. This is elucidated by my work as a research intern at IISER Pune, and my environmental conservation organization – The Tree Map.
This journey of mine began in grade 5, by building a robot for Cozmo Clench at Techfest – IIT Bombay, and this continues today as I push boundaries in my academic and research pursuits.
Why Engineering?
Engineering, to me, is a way of finding solutions to problems that we face in the real world.
I’m drawn to problems that span multiple disciplines rather than being confined to a single domain.
My interests span biological systems, environmental challenges, and electrical and electronic systems.
I enjoy breaking complex systems down and studying how they work at a fundamental level.
I design solutions to improve lives, not just optimizing systems.
In any setting, I approach engineering with curiosity, rigor, and a focus on people
Athletics, Creativity & Balance
Athletics and creative pursuits have shaped my discipline, resilience, and balance. Juggling academics with sport and music strengthened my time management and perseverance.

Summer Neurobiology Coursework at Johns Hopkins University
I attended a summer course on Neurobiology: Cellular and Systems at Johns Hopkins University and received the Dean’s Fellowship Award. The program introduced me to the fundamentals of neuroscience, including sense organs, neural development, neurotransmission, and learning and memory, with an emphasis on discussion, collaboration, and independent research. Leadership
Elected Head Prefect for 2024–2025, I led the senior school (Grades 6–10), coordinated with teachers and the student council, and spearheaded new initiatives such as the Debate Club. Previously, I served as House Vice-Captain (2023–2024), motivating house members and supporting leadership activities.
As Head Prefect, I worked closely with the prefect body, teachers, and the student council to organize school events, streamline coordination, and implement new programs for student engagement. I also participated in a six-member team at a Student Leadership Conference in 9th grade, where I learned skills in introspective leadership, team dynamics, and Covey’s circles.
International Exchange, Internat Solling, Germany
I was selected as one of four students to represent my school in a three-week exchange program at Internat Solling at Holzminden, Germany. The program offered a cultural immersion into German life and education, broadening my perspective on international collaboration and learning. View More…
